|Veit Stratmann I Residency from July to December 2004
Born in Bochum Germany in 1960, Veit Stratmann has lived and worked in Paris for many years.
The work of this artist is based upon reflections on space and its use. His works are generally in close relation with the space where the artist will exhibit.
Their dimension, the neutrality of their forms and colors, the materials used, and their positioning in places of regular frequentation almost give Veit Stratmann's work the aspect of street furniture, that asks the viewer to think about his habits of perception, and to question his ideas about space.
There have been numerous solo exhibitions of his work: at the Galerie Arndt et Partner, at the Kunsterhaus Bethanien Berlin, at the Joan Miró Foundation in Barcelona, the FRAC (contemporary art collections) Languedoc - Roussillon and Rhône Alps, at the Galerie Chez Valentine.
He has also participated in numerous group exhibitions: at the Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, at the Akademie Der Kunste in Berlin, at the Galerie du Jour - Agnès b., at the Teatro do Campo Alegre in Porto (with Didier Fiuza Faustino) at the Transpalette and la Box in Bourges, at the Grand Café at Saint - Nazaire, and at the CAPC (art center) in Bordeaux.
Veit Stratmann's residency at the Atelier Calder has been an occasion for him to create a new series of objects and to integrate them with images realized in 3D. Veit Stratmann was able to fully benefit from the space offered by the Atelier, and use it fully for his research and work, at once theoretical and fine art.
